Pale in Comparison

Take a moment to refresh, refocus, and refine your faith.

Lord, help me grasp the concept of dying to self not just in theory but in practice. Dying to sins and the inclinations that lead to them is not truly a loss, but a gain of divine, eternal life. What you offer makes even the best things mortal life can offer not only pale, but become repulsive in comparison. Teach me to see the value of things rightly so that I become enthusiastic about living for you, not reticent about forsaking earthly pleasures. Amen.

John 12:24-26

Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.
